SOMA is a body-horror short film that follows a closeted young woman who begins to undergo a horrific and bizarre metamorphosis after an unsettling sexual experience with her manipulative girlfriend.

SOMA changes the narrative of "rape-revenge" films. Instead of using scenes of SA for voyeuristic shock value, SOMA focuses on grounded, complex emotions in order to humanize victims. Through SOMA, we aim to remind audiences that our bodies can be protective and knowledgeable, even when we are too preoccupied to notice warning signs.

The short film is a junior thesis project at the College for Creative Studies. Funding is needed to achieve the heavy practical special-effects that are prevalent throughout the film, as well as ensuring a safe and comfortable on-set environment for cast and crew.
