Support Solo's Fight Against Prostate Cancer

Donation protected
Hello everyone,

I wanted to share some heartbreaking news about my beloved Solo. My sweet boy and my best friend is everything to me. Recently, Solo was diagnosed with prostate cancer. The tumor is causing him significant discomfort by pressing on his urethra, making it very hard for him to urinate. Sadly, there's no cure for this; it's terminal. However, apart from this, he continues to enjoy daily life just like always. Depending on the treatments we pursue, Solo may be with us for anywhere from 3 to 18 months.

I'm reaching out because I'm raising funds for Solo's chemotherapy and other potential treatments. I don't have pet insurance, and after losing everything to Covid, I'm still working on getting back on my feet financially. I have already exhausted my limited funds on this emergency.

For those who may not be familiar with us, Solo is an almost 10-year-old Pitbull/Bulldog mix. I'm Matt, his best friend and constant companion. As a small business owner running a group fitness gym, I'm still rebuilding after losing my first gym and everything I had to Covid. Solo has been a gym dog since he was a puppy, growing up alongside me in my first gym. He adores people and has a gentle, old soul. We're inseparable and go everywhere together. He also has a little sister named Blue, who is lost without him.

I'm grateful for the support of friends and family, but it would mean the world to me not to have to make decisions about Solo's care based on cost alone. I want to give him another year (or more) of being the amazing and loving companion he is (despite his dislike for skateboards and the street sweeper!). If we can raise enough, there's even a procedure beyond chemo at UC Davis that could potentially extend his life by a year or more.

Please consider donating whatever you can. **Update: Solo had a surgery on Friday, June 21, to install a stint so that he can urinate. The surgery was a success, and we will be evaluating options for the cancer treatment this week.**

Every contribution will directly support Solo's treatment costs. Any funds beyond what's needed/used will be donated to Rocket Rescue in Oakland, where I adopted my baby girl, Blue.

Thank you all for your kindness, support and love during this difficult time. Please come by to visit Solo at the gym, or feel free to scheudle a visit with us. You know he loves everyone and loves visitors, at home or at the gym (our second home).

All the best and much love,

Matt, Solo, & Blue
