If y'all know me, you know I hate to be doing this more than anything. But for my little baby idiot Solaire, I will suck it up and ask for help.
I'm asking for help to reach a $1200 goal to pay for (fatty tumor?) surgery and biopsy on my cat, Solaire.
7/4/24, 12/22/24, and 4/28/24
Usually a fatty tumor would not be a major concern—especially since Solaire has had it since we adopted him (we wrongfully assumed it was his microchip scar), and he isn't in pain nor does it cause him movement issues. Unfortunately though, since November of last year, his tumor has gone from the size of a nickel and slightly raised, to larger than a golf ball. Even if benign, this could eventually become necrotic if it keeps growing and the blood flow can't keep up.
That combined with the scab that won't heal, a sudden softness to parts of the tumor, and Solaire's cave-spelunker-esque desire to cram himself into the tiniest gaps between our legs and the nearest hard surface at his own peril (hence how he got the scratch/scab), make me keen on getting this thing removed and biopsied ASAP, so we can be sure it's not a danger or potential infection risk.
As for me, while I've been dealing with financial issues for a while now, this winter was especially hard. We were struggling with failing power steering and random car shut offs (my income is exclusively from delivery driving lol) and chronic health issues; the money that I had tried saving, and money made selling my sewing machine—both intended for the surgery—were used up to cover bills and rent while I couldn't work. CareCredit was originally my intention since I've used them before, but late payments from winter dropped my limit from $1500 to $300. Scratchpay (payment plan) denied my application (literally two days ago lol). And given I've been consistently behind on bills since winter issues, saving just isn't a viable short term option.
So, please help me save Solaire from experiencing the consequences of my bad luck lol.
Some transparency stuff:
- Last check-up (08/2024) they attempted a fine-needle aspirate on the growth, but couldn't get enough tissue to confidently declare if it was a cyst, fatty tumor, or something else.
- They gave an estimate of $811.40, $966.40 including bloodwork (which I would like, ideally)
- I reconfirmed this quote a month or two ago.
- The extra ~$230 would be going towards:
- Quote differences (they quoted me when the tumor was significantly smaller, which could change the estimate)
- Post-op medication
- Post-op visits
- Any cones or clothing he needs to wear to protect the wound
- Redacted parts in the estimate photo are private information related to address, number, and partner information.
