Dear Sola Journal supporters,

This week marks four years since I launched Sola, a project born out of the frustration of lockdown uni days, fuelled by a deep belief that emerging, underrepresented artists deserve to be seen and celebrated.

Since then, Sola has grown into a community of over 16,000 people and has platformed more than 250 visual artists through takeovers, interviews, zines, and shared moments of connection. Each one reminds me why I started: to create a space that uplifts and gives voice to those who are so often overlooked.

But here’s the honest truth: I’ve once again reached the limit of what I can sustain on my own. As a one-person, not-for-profit project, run alongside my full-time job, Sola has been powered by my non-existent spare time, a whole lot of love, and a lot of out-of-pocket costs. Right now, those costs have caught up with me.

Website fees, domain renewals, and the tools I use to keep Sola running have become too much to cover alone. Eighteen months ago, I came to you with the same ask, and thanks to your kindness, we raised enough to keep things going. This time, I’ve decided to leave the GoFundMe open, so if you can’t contribute right now, maybe you can when you have a few pennies to spare.

So I’m asking: if Sola has ever inspired you, supported you, connected you, or featured someone whose work moved you, please consider donating. Even a few pounds truly makes a difference.

I would hate for this to be Sola’s last birthday. Sola deserves to keep growing. And with your help, it can.
