Hi! My name is Sofia Spencer. I have FSGS Focal segmental glomerulosclerosis, a very rare kidney disease. I had this illness when I was 10 and "healed" by the age oof 17. I relapsed when I was 26 and got insurance then but lost it 2 years ago. My last hospital visit was in September 2024 and got stuck with a huge hospital bill that medical refuses to cover. I'm raising funds to be able to go to Mexico and get a new treatment since Medical/Medicare are refusing to help me. My kidneys are starting to show symptoms of shutdown. I have edema, which is caused by FSGS. I throw up on days my body refuses to let me eat, and I get cramps to the point where I have fallen due to my swelling and liquid retention. I have found a mother cell treatment in Mexico where they have given me hope to heal my kidneys and stop them from scarring, possibly. If I don't get treatment soon, my kidneys will shut down, and I will need dialysis and end up with another hospital bill again. Please don't feel obligated to help, this money is just to raise for all the lab work and treatments I need in Mexico, also to help cover a few expenses for the trip. I appreciate everyone who donates, and I hope to help others by spreading awareness. If this treatment works on me, others can go and get treated.
