Help a True Boston Hero Rebuild After Loosing Everything

Donation protected
On June 4, 2025, a fire tore through a Boston apartment building. As others ran for safety, one man—Socrate Joseph—ran toward the danger. He rescued a blind elderly woman trapped inside, putting his own life on the line. News outlets are calling him a hero, but to those who know him, that’s just who he is.

Originally from Springfield, MA, Socrate moved to Boston last year to create a better life. In February, he welcomed his first children—twin baby girls—and they instantly became his purpose and driving force.

At the time of the fire, Socrate had been staying at the apartment, helping care for the mother of his goddaughter and had been storing his belongings in the home. That place had become a temporary refuge—a stop on his path as he worked tirelessly to build stability for himself and his daughters.
Socrate lives with sickle cell anemia, a chronic, painful blood disorder that can make daily life a battle. Despite this, he works 10 to 12-hour shifts, often on just 2–3 hours of sleep. The pain from his condition can be excruciating, but he shows up every day—to work, to provide, to push through—for his girls.
He lives by a powerful motto: "My life is not my own; I live for the greater good." He doesn't seek pity. He doesn't call himself a hero. He believes he did what anyone should—help another human in need.
But while saving someone else's life, Socrate lost everything he had. Because his name wasn’t on the lease, he wasn’t eligible for official aid. All he has left are a few clothes he kept in his car to change into after work. He’s now homeless, and his daughters need him more than ever.
Socrate has always put others first. Now, we ask the community to lift him up in return. Your donation will help him secure a home and begin to rebuild what he’s lost—for himself and, most importantly, for his baby girls.
Please consider donating or sharing. Let’s show Socrate that good people don’t go unseen or unsupported.
