As a mother of three boys, my children are my world. They are my lifeline. I love my sons Leon and my twins, Brian and Bryant (Sock), with all my heart.
After a life-time of severe asthma and as a result, a life-time of relying on inhalers (steroids) to breathe, both Brian and Sock were diagnosed with heart failure. They both suffered from irregular heart beats and doctors told me early on that they may eventually need new hearts. I realized It would be a matter of time.
In November 2019, my sweetheart and youngest son, Sock began experiencing end-stage heart failure. He thought he was only suffering from a severe flu and tried to wait it out but in fact, his body was beginning to shut down. It was his heart. As a mother, it is unbearable to see your child go through pain and suffering and not be able to do anything. After weeks in the hospital, the doctors placed him on the national transplant list. This was his only hope. TWO DAYS later, a match was found. Miracles happen. On January 12, 2020, Sock underwent a heart transplant.
Sock is my baby and my sweetheart. He has a gentle spirit, a heart of gold and his smile could light up a room. If you know Sock, you know his heart.
We are now on the long road to recovery. Any financial support raised will help us get back on our feet and help cover medical and living expenses. Any support would be so much appreciated. We are so grateful for your prayers, love and donations at this time.
Addendum: When she received word of Sock's surgery, Mama Pat packed up and took a flight back to Los Angeles. She is now back in LA for the duration of the next year to support his recovery. That being said, the priority at this time is finding safe and affordable housing. If you or someone you know has any rental property available in Greater LA, please let us know. Thank you!
