Hi my name is Slimm & Just a short while ago, I was working and doing my best to stay on top of my bills. Everything changed unexpectedly when I was laid off from my job without warning. It hit me hard—not just emotionally, but financially. Overnight, I lost the income I depended on to cover my rent, utilities, and daily essentials. I did everything I could to stay afloat, but the loss of income caused me to fall behind.
I didn’t give up. I immediately began searching for work and was fortunate enough to recently secure a new job. I’m grateful for the opportunity, but since I just started, I haven’t worked enough hours yet to earn what I need to catch up. The paycheck I do have isn’t enough to cover this month’s rent, let alone everything else.
To avoid eviction, I applied for rental assistance. The application took 20 days to process, and even after that, they told me they needed more time. While I waited, my landlord issued a 3-day notice—something that has put an enormous amount of stress on me and threatens my stability. I’ve been down this road before, and I’m scared. I’ve had to sleep in my car before, and I’m doing everything in my power to not go back to that place.
Right now, I’m asking for help—not forever, just for this month. I need a little support to get through this moment, and once I receive a full paycheck, I’ll be able to get back on track. I’ve always done my best to take care of myself and keep going, even when things get hard. I just need a little breathing room to keep a roof over my head.
Thank you for reading and for considering helping me during this challenging time. Your support truly means everything.
