Support Slade & Sarah's Cancer Journey
Donation protected
Slade & Sarah Jackson were just married on September 20, 2024 in Provo, Utah. Newlywed life has been wonderful, but in December, Slade began to feel sick with flu-like symptoms. Doctors dismissed it as a virus, so Slade & Sarah moved forward with their plan to relocate from Utah to Arizona so Slade could pursue a new employment opportunity. As they packed and prepared, Slade grew more ill but dismissed it as lingering illness.
Upon arriving in Arizona, Slade continued to feel worse, but managed to make it to the first day of his new job on January 13. When he returned home, it was clear he was not okay, so his family rushed him to the ER. There, they did a chest x-ray and realized that Slade's lung had filled with fluid. While draining it, doctors discovered a cancerous tumor that had caused the fluid to accumulate and to become life-threatening pneumonia.
Now, Slade & Sarah are facing a long road of medical treatments and recovery. Slade will begin chemotherapy shortly and is still undergoing testing to determine the scope of his cancer. Unfortunately, he will not be able to work during this time and Sarah will need to be his caregiver. Without any income, their medical bills and life expenses will be difficult to manage. Though they have incredible support from family, it would be wonderful to raise additional funds to help cover some of the costs.
At 22, Slade did not expect to receive this diagnosis, but his spirits are high, and he is looking forward to a clean bill of health down the road. Sarah has been an incredible partner throughout his hospital stays and doctor visits. His mom, Hilari, recounted that she told Slade she wished she could trade places with him. Slade quickly retorted, "My trial, my blessing."
Those who know Slade are familiar with his spunky spirit and clever charm. He's an incredible husband, an amazing son, and a loyal friend. Over the years, he and his family have done so much to serve and bless others—now, it's our turn to lift them!
