Hey, my name is Sky and I could really use some help. I’m a 26 year old college student living alone with my seven year old dog Little Bear, and 6 year old cat Artemis. We are just trying to make ends meet and survive until I graduate, something which has been increasingly hard over the past 3 months as I have been repeatedly robbed and stalked. The same person has broken into my home and robbed me FIVE times. Despite moving units, despite security cameras and alarm systems, despite added security via metal security door and deadbolts, one man that I don’t know has repeatedly targeted me. I have had everything, from all my valuables, to all my shower and feminine products, all the food in my freezer and pantry, family photos and letters from my mother, even my college backpack with all my notes and textbooks stolen between the five robberies. The person even stole my previous fish and snail and attempted to kill my new fish Jasper by throwing his tank onto the floor and smashing it. Due to the level of maliciousness and increasing aggression of these break-ins, the police believe I’m being directly stalked and targeted. The toll this has taken both financially and health wise on me is substantial, I even had to drop this semester of college due to the stress, sleeplessness, and financial loss. I have finally decided to seek help after this last robbery, in which the $300 security system I had to scrape up for just to sleep at night was quite literally thrown down my toilet drain. Despite being caught on camera and setting off a very LOUD alarm, this man STILL decided to break into my home and spend his time there smiling as he went about smashing everything he could before running away before the cops arrived. I watched helplessly from my camera as he grinned and strutted about my house. Thankfully, I have never been home during one of the robberies, but my cat and dog have, and every time I’m terrified they won’t make it out alive. The duplexes I currently live in are clearly not safe for me or my babies, despite my best efforts, and I need to move again. This time to an entirely different complex where hopefully I won’t be followed. Unfortunately, I lack the finances to move, which is why I stayed and only switched units after being robbed the FIRST two times. I spent every spare dime I had trying to repair the damage, because the landlord didn’t, and replace the things I needed. Though this last robbery has made it clear that no matter what do, I and my fur babies are in danger. I have no choice but to move as soon as possible. Rent in my area is sadly very high, and with two small pets I pay even more. The cheapest apartments I have found are $800 a month, so I’m looking at $1,600 just to move in, $50 to apply, $300 pet deposit, $50 move fee each for utilities, $200-300 in moving fees, and more to replace stolen property. Any donations would be directly used for my moving expenses and rent for a new, safer apartment. I have always been a stubbornly independent person, and hesitated to even make this go-fund-me, but the constant terror and anguish I have been in for the past three months, along with loosing my semester of college have been enough to make me beg. I have fought tooth and nail to get to where I am today, both with myself and with outside forces, I’m not willing to let something like pride compromise my and my fur babies safety any longer. So if you can, please help me reach my goal so that I can feel safe again.
