Howdy, humans!
I reluctantly decided on this fundraiser to help support me during a tender season of healing and transition.
When I came home to visit two years ago, I received a medical diagnosis of High-Grade Cervical Dysplasia. This last visit it had spread & intensified, so I opted in for two surgeries, a surprise sleepover at the ER, and a lot of effort to bring my whole body back into some semblance of homeostasis. Waiting on the latest pathology to see if they were able to get all the pre-cancerous cells this round. Fingers & tootsies crossed!
While I recover for the next month or so, my ability to work is limited, and medical expenses plus the cost of living adds up fast. My mom & family have been absolute angels and I couldn't have done this without them. I’m also working on becoming financially independent from my generous partner. Thankfully most of the procedures have been covered by an epic program for early detection + care. As for the pricey ER visit- I'm waiting to see if I can negotiate down.
This fundraiser also supports my transition into Wildland Firefighting this season, based out in Oregon (so long as I’m medically cleared). I'm prayin' this will be the anchor my body & wallet needs right now. There’s a start up cost for certifications & gear, and then the standard groceries, relocation (I'm driving my bed across country), shelter, & other necessities it takes to survive in these times.
Optional support through donating to A V. Lovely Bundle (a hand-crafted , gift-ready Valentine’s Day box including body care, snacks, sips & more. You receive a tangible, lovingly prepared offering while contributing directly to recovery and transition costs. If you’re interested, please reach out for more info!
If you are able to offer spare funds, I am deeply grateful. If not, sharing this page, sending ✨good vibes✨, or witnessing this moment is just as meaningful.
Thank you for helping me create space for healing, growth, and service. This has been one of the most disorienting times of my life- as I’m sure many of you can relate. Not to mention that icky sensation of simultaneously feeling sorry for yourself AND privileged while the world is on fire. New beginnings are surefire to make their way, but this uncertainty can undoubtedly be nauseating. I see you.
It’s imperative we unite together in ways we can afford~ kindness & prayer go a long way in my experience. And money, apparently. Money helps too.
With love and gratitude,
Skylar Rae Dawn xx
