Hello my name is Madison- I am fundraising for a sweet dog named Sky who needs heart-worm treatment so she can have a chance at a long healthy life and finding her forever family!
The Day I Found Her Tied To a Tree:
Late April I found a sweet shy dog while at work. She was tied to a tree yelping for help. No one knew where she had come from. She was in bad shape - she was skinny, had a wound on her tail, and was covered in fly bites and fleas. From the second I met her I knew she was special. She immediately calmed and fell asleep when a few of my coworkers were giving her pets. I could tell how much she was longing for a safe and loving home. I decided to take her home that day and foster her.
Me and Sky at the Vet:
I was ready to get Sky healthy, happy and ready to find her forever family! I took her to the vet and they fixed up her wound. We treated her for fleas and ticks. She received vaccinations and we got some food in her belly- all was well! Even better- We had a few good families already interested in her!
On May 3rd I got a call from the vet saying Sky was heart-worm positive. If you don't know, heart-worms can be very dangerous in dogs. It can be devastating and a potentially fatal disease. Treatment is extensive, expensive, and is painful for the animal to go through. This news crushed me and I was worried about her future. Sadly, everyone who was interested in adopting Sky fell through when I told them she was positive for heart-worms. To this day she hasn't gotten any new applications for adoption.
After her many baths/love:
The shelters are currently overflowing. Hundreds, if not more fur babies get put to sleep daily. When people look to adopt they look for a dog with all the boxes checked: fixed, up to date on all shots, potty trained, good with other dogs, good with small children, etc. The dogs that are unable to meet these expectations or have any special needs or chronic illnesses have a much lower chance of being adopted and higher chances of being put to death.
While I cannot help every dog, I got the special chance to help Sky. This is why I am asking for help- so I can pay for Sky's treatment and she can get a shot at a long healthy and happy life!

I have already invested over $300 on Sky and financially cannot afford the full treatment for heart worms but I know that helping her is the right thing to do!
Any amount at all will help us, even a dollar is appreciated. A massive THANK YOU from me but more importantly Ms. Sky!
What I know about where Sky Came From:
I took to our local shelter and turns out she was from there and had been adopted. They reached out to her previous owners many times. After many attempts to reunite them it became clear Sky's previous owners did not want her and they refused to come get her (this is illegal). The shelter was full and I did not feel comfortable with sending her to another shelter or pound at this point. I want to make sure Sky gets her forever family.
