Howdy there y'all,
My name's Skyler and I'm sure you all know me in some way if you've reached this page. If someone has sent you here and you don't know me, thank you for taking the time to visit this page and possibly donate.
I recently suffered some 2nd degree burns across my left hand, which is unfortunately my dominant hand as well. I was using some fuel to light a neighbor's fireplace during this recent freeze and the flame traveled back up into the bottle and exploded. Luckily, I was covered in clothes and ran outside quickly enough to roll around to prevent burns across my body or my clothes melting to my skin. Fortunately, only my hand that was holding the bottle sustained any injuries, and I have minor singes on my inner thigh where my pants started melting.
It will prevent me from going back to work until I recover, which could be anywhere from 2-4 weeks. Whenever it heals enough for me to comfortably drive, I will likely do some delivery work like DoorDash or Uber Eats to stay afloat. I'll be eager to get back to work, but it is outdoor work and very dependent on my hands. I'll have to prevent my recovering wounds from exposure to sun and outside bacteria to prevent infection and scarring.
I'm not one to typically do this, but times have been tough and asking for some assistance seems to be my only option right now to keep bills paid and food in the fridge for us here.
Anything helps no matter how much! I truly appreciate each and every one of you for taking the time to read and share this.
