Yesterday, Mike and I received a call that no parent ever wants to get. A call that told us both of our sons had been in a horrible car accident along with two of their friends. They had been hit by a semi truck.
We are so grateful that Isaak and the driver were treated and released with minor injuries besides the emotional and mental trauma of seeing their friend and Isaak's twin brother, Skyler, life flighted to a trauma hospital.
The friend that was riding in the back with Skyler is still admitted and needs to eat and walk by himself before being discharged. Please pray for this family that this friend will be able to meet these goals quickly and to be back home together. Pray for the driver friend and his family as this has been a horrific ordeal for all involved.
Please pray for our son, Skyler, as he sustained injuries of broken pelvis bones, broken ribs, a collapsed lung, a lacerated spleen, a brain bleed and has a ventilator breathing for him.
Please pray for our son, Isaak, as it is so hard to have to see his brother in this unimaginable situation.
This accident occurred over three hours from our home, and Mike and I left directly from our workplaces to be with our boys as soon as we could. This ride was the longest ride of our lives. We will need to be out of town and near our boy for an unspecified amount of time as we navigate each step of his recovery. Skyler's sisters have also driven out, so we are able to be together as a family for now.
We are so appreciative of all of the prayers and well wishes we have received. We also know and believe that God is the Great Physician and trust that Skyler is in his hands.
(Finances are the last thing we can think about but the need is great: a life flight, out of network deductibles and high level medical care along with our need to be away from home and work. We are on a list to get a room at the Ronald McDonald House but staying at a hotel for now. My cousin Monica has encouraged us to let others care for us in this way. We are so grateful for any help and most of all for your prayers and asking others to pray.)
