On Friday, March 20th, Skyler went to bed like any other normal night. By Saturday, March 21st, everything had changed. Skyler did not wake up the same. He was limp, and his eyes were darting around in his head. What followed was every family’s nightmare. Skyler was hospitalized after suffering a stroke, brain bleed, and seizures.
As we searched for answers, we learned that Skyler had in utero drug exposure. We also learned that the biological mother contracted both type 1 and type 2 HSV while pregnant with Skyler and never treated it while pregnant which transferred to skyler at birth. This led to a brain infection that caused the stroke, brain bleed, and seizures. Our family has been trying to process the fear, uncertainty, and emotional weight of seeing Skyler go through such a serious medical emergency.
Right now, our focus is on making sure Skyler gets the care and support he needs in the days ahead. The funds raised will help cover travel for follow-up appointments and ease the burden of missed work while we stay by Skyler’s side and manage recovery. If you’re able, please consider donating, sharing this fundraiser, and keeping Skyler in your prayers. Every act of support means so much to our family during this difficult time.
