update on Skylar, he has a grade 4 kidney laceration grade 2 spleen laceration. Free fluid in the upper right quadrant and lower right, they are scanning his bladder every time he goes to the bathroom, he had trace pneumothorax not visible radiographically. He has a large perinephric hematoma on the lower left kidney. His urine is still bloody, he tried to eat twice today and got a few bites in before it was to painful for him to continue eating.
Little bit of an update: Skylar no longer has blood in his urine, he is still in a lot of pain very tired. He is getting random heart rate spikes and is having pain every time he has to pee which is concerning given the kidney injury still waiting on more imaging, unfortunately he is still unable to eat and drinking even water is extremely painful for him.
Hi my name is Paige, I am a wife and a mother of four children. Most of y'all probably know me or have heard of my medical endeavors, unfortunately it’s not me that I am putting this together for, gods know I wish it was being a mother has been such an amazing experience but one thing it does not prepare you for is the accidents the falls the broken bones and with three boys you can imagine the amount of injuries we’ve had to deal with. One thing I definitely wasn’t prepared for is my child being life flighted, I personally have been life flighted more times than you can imagine and as scary as that was this definitely takes the cake, being on the other side of that hospital bed it’s indescribable honestly.
On Saturday afternoon my boys went over to the school that is across the street from our home playing with friends and cousins. I called them to have them come home and get ready for dinner when one of Skylars friends picked up, he said Skylar hurt himself pretty bad and can’t get up to walk home and that I should probably drive over to pick him up. I get there find all the kids but Skylar so mom panic kicks in , I drove around and found him laying on the ground his amazing friend watching over him. We get him home I figured you know he knocked the wind out of himself really good, he says he fell on the monkey bars and landed on his stomach so I’m thinking man a broken or bruised rib, but he couldn’t stand up straight and was in a lot of pain so I figured we’ll take him in just to get looked at. Arrived at the Emergency department got him back we are explaining what happened and the doctor said he wanted to do a CT scan make sure his organs are working properly which is honestly something that didn’t cross my mind, before the radiologist even had a chance to read the scan the er doctor come in and explains that he has a laceration on his spleen and damage to one of his kidneys and will have to be life flighted to either Denver or Billings, I unfortunately was not able to fly with him to Billings but my sister came down to drive me up to Billings so I could be with him.
the flight went well, I got to track him on a nifty app the flight crew was fantastic called me when he landed, then the doctor called me and gave me a little update before I had made it down.
He is doing well, being heavily monitored he has damage to his spleen and a kidney. Unfortunately if the kidney decides it wants to be a pain we will have to be life flighted to either Denver or Salt Lake for a pediatric urologist.
I am making this gofundme to help with expenses unfortunately this wasn’t the only injury that befell our family this week, my husbands back has been giving him hell and he’s been temporarily laid off til we can get it looked at and have possibly another surgery. I know times are extremely tough right now but I am sucking up my pride and asking for some help to get us through this difficult bump in the road, anything helps even just a share would be greatly appreciated. Thank you for taking the time to read this long thread of our woes
