Help Skylar Heal from Type 1.5 Diabetes

Last October, our beloved friend Skylar Lambert faced a sudden health crisis. She was rushed to the hospital after her husband found her unable to communicate—Skylar had developed Type 1.5 Diabetes (LADA) and was in Diabetic Ketoacidosis, a life-threatening condition.

Type 1.5 Diabetes is a rare autoimmune disorder that damages the pancreas’ ability to regulate blood sugar. Over the last 11 months, despite her best efforts, Skylar has struggled to stabilize her glucose levels. Her blood sugar spikes dangerously high and drops dangerously low—sometimes above 300 and below 50—all in the same day. These swings have taken a severe toll on her heart and other vital organs, causing new cardiovascular symptoms. While her pancreas still has some function left, this also makes her insulin dependency incredibly precarious.

But there is hope.
