December 26th at 4:14pm & 4:16pm, my beautiful twin nieces were brought into this world far too early and are currently fighting for their lives in the NICU. At just 24 weeks pregnant, their brave mama, Skylare, was rushed into the operating room and delivered her babies via emergency c-section. After already being at the hospital for days on bed rest due to twin pregnancy complications, Skylare and my brother Jason now face a long road ahead. Between her own hospital stay, and the long-term NICU stay for the babies, not to mention the fact that Skylare is now not able to work, is just the start of the obstacles ahead. They are going to need a village, full of love and support.... abundant prayers, and honestly, they could really use a miracle.
If you can spare anything to help them so they can focus on caring for their girls, learning to navigate NICU life, twin life, and simply being the best mom and dad and partner to each other, I know they would forever be grateful.
Update from Mom and Dad-December 30th at 11:53pm, our sweet baby girl, Nelli Blue Stanley, passed away in our arms. For her 4 days on this earth, she fought so hard to be here, but her little body was unable to handle all the necessary treatment.
Her twin sister, Sage Rose Stanley, is still fighting for her life in the NICU. Before Nelli’s passing, she was able to be with her sister one last time.
I never ever thought that having twins would happen, but Jason and I have been so excited for this journey being parents to twins. This grief we are experiencing is unbearable. I never fathomed you could love someone so much in such a short period of time. We are grieving her passing, but also grieving that we will never get to see our beautiful Nelli grow up or play with her sister.
Please continue to keep her Sage in your thoughts during her continuous battle.
