Support Skye Hawk's WORLDS competition
Dearest friends and fellow Americans, please indulge us a humble request.
The Backstory: Skyelar (Skye) Hawk is a 12-year-old tumbling and trampoline athlete who recently finished sixth grade. Early this school year, her elementary class was asked to write down their goals for the year. Amidst COVID restrictions governing school and training contact, she jotted down, “make the WAGS team”. While certainly bold, Skye is advanced in the sport for her age and this wasn’t a completely outlandish target. She began her season in January, competing almost exclusively against 14-year-olds. True to her name and her aim, Skye Hawk excelled, until an over-rotated landing fractured her spinal transverse processes at T6 and T7 and dislocated a rib. Unable to compete, train, or even exercise for six weeks, she was cleared to practice just one week before the Nationals competition, for which she had qualified prior to her injuries. On just three hours of training, she took third in the nation and astonishingly realized her dream of being selected to represent the United States of America in the World Age Group Competition in Baku, Azerbaijan this November (one of just four in her division in the entire country).
Our Humble Request: Kindly help us defray the expense of supporting our Skye Hawk and her dream. We are going no matter what! We know this is truly a once in a lifetime opportunity (hopefully not, but nothing is promised). There is a training camp in New York (we live in Texas) prior to the competition and then a week-long trip a half a globe away to compete against the best the world has to offer as a representative of our great nation. While the cost is significant, there is no way Skye is going without her parents, so every little bit will truly help. Once there, we are not yet even guaranteed entry to the venue due to COVID and other security concerns, but if there is a live feed, we will make sure that everyone has access to watch and cheer along with us as our little dynamo dons the stars and stripes on behalf of our country on the world stage.
With sincere and humble gratitude, thank you for your contribution. We are beyond thrilled for Skye’s opportunity to represent the USA in a World athletic competition at such a young age. We are humbled by her perseverance and resilience in the face of adversity, and we know she will make America proud.
USA! USA! USA!
