My dad, Skip, recently underwent two extensive surgeries and spent a month in the hospital. The experience has been overwhelming for our family, but we are doing everything we can to support his recovery. As he continues to receive medical treatments throughout December and January, I will be stepping in as his full-time caretaker to make sure he has everything he needs at home.
Those who know Skip know that he has always made sure to take care of us and others during difficult times. He has been my rock through the years—whenever I've faced a struggle, he's been there to talk me through solving the problem. While I was off at college and grad school, he came by weekly to visit, buy me groceries, and take me out to dinner to show his support. Even now, he calls me every week on his way home from taking care of my grandmother, just to check in and give updates. Now, we want to take care of him in return, and show him the same love and support he’s always given to others.
The costs of his care are adding up quickly. We are facing not only mounting medical bills, but also the need for supplies to help him recover safely and comfortably. On top of that, daily expenses like food, medicine, and cleaning supplies are becoming more difficult to manage as I focus on caring for him full-time. Every bit of support will help us get through this challenging time.
We have been so grateful for the friends and family who have come to help, checked in on us, and kept us in their thoughts and prayers. Any contribution, no matter the size, will make a difference for us as we navigate this unexpected medical situation. Thank you for being part of our support system—we are forever grateful.
