Support Skippy's Urgent Vet Care Needs
Donation protected
Hello, my name is Melody.
I often post about cats on my NextDoor page.
It’s true, I love cats and I work hard to advocate for them.
I’m a San Jose native and have lived in this neighborhood for 10 years now.
I am reaching out to you at a most vulnerable time.
Unfortunately, tragedy struck our furr family and our sweet Skippy had to go to the emergency vet last night. Skip had a Urinary blockage and needed an emergency procedure last night at MedVet.
He had no indicators, no frequency, no loss of appetite/water, no fever. Stress, yes, his foster sister recently got adopted last Wednesday- but we never suspected it could lead to this.
A short story of my Skippy.
3 years ago this month, I received a call at 3am by a neighbor, frantic there was a small furr ball running in the streets.
With help from the neighbor we rescued, fixed, and treated this kitten at a mere 5 weeks old.
He has thrived into a kind, sweet, cuddly, loving, spirited, energy of a kitten, Mancat.
He is the Alpha of the 6 (5 foster siblings).
Welcoming each with a head butt, gentle wrestle, or a quick chase.
Letting them eat first, sharing his treats, taking turns when we play wand or catch.
We call him out Security Guard. Anyone who comes to the door (Courier, Squirrel, Dog, a misplaced Cat, Juneebug) he lets us know
”no worries mom and dad, I'll let you know and protect you!”
He is loved by his sibs, and they are missing him dearly right now. It's so quiet in our home right now.
Unfortunately we do not have pet insurance and his treatment plan is very costly. I’m asking my neighbors for any resources or support they can offer me as this emergency has cost our family $3,600 and may go up to $5,200 depending on the additional tests results today. The vet also shared, there will be needed follow up care (including an additional procedure), along with a Prescription diet.
Please consider making a donation for Skippy’s medical care. He deserves to be pain free and to continue to be the awesome Man cat he is.
Much love, and Thank you in advance for your contribution.
