This fall, SJ, a dedicated and passionate Pilates instructor and active community member, made the tough decision to close her studio with exciting plans to teach overseas during the fall and winter. Unfortunately, life took an unexpected turn. In mid-September, SJ was diagnosed with a very large fibroid in her uterus, requiring an abdominal hysterectomy scheduled for early December. While the condition is not life-threatening, it has caused significant discomfort and the hysterectomy is a major invasive surgery with a minimum six-week recovery period.

SJ’s commitment to her community is unwavering—she has always been there for others, even volunteering with the Roberts Creek Fire Department. Now, during this difficult time, SJ needs our support. As a self-employed individual, she is not eligible for Employment Insurance and now faces a financial gap, unable to work for at least three months. This period includes not only her surgery and recovery but also the delay in reopening her home studio until January 2025 at the earliest.
