last night at 12:30 am we saw a dog running down central ave in -2 degree weather . We chased him for 15 minutes, watching him struggle, until he finally slowed down and hopped right into our car. He was ready to be safe.
While he is safe now, his journey has been painful. Upon getting him home, we discovered the extent of his injuries. Three of his paw pads are completely ripped away, leaving raw, exposed flesh. He is in significant pain, with visible nerve twitching in his legs, yet he remains the sweetest boy. Despite his injuries, he already wants to get up and play with our Great Pyrenees—his spirit is unbroken, but his body needs help.
We actually tracked down his owners. Come to find out they were wanting to rehome him. Now, he is officially part of our world, but he comes with unexpected vet bills to treat his severe paw injuries, potential nerve damage, and a respiratory wheeze from his time in the cold.
How You Can Help
We are asking for help to cover his medical expenses, including:
• Vet Exam to assess the nerve twitching and wheezing.
• Specialized Wound Care and sedation for cleaning his raw pads.
• Pain Medication and Antibiotics to prevent systemic infection.
• Follow-up Bandaging and supplies to ensure he walks without pain again.
Every dollar goes directly to giving sisko. He chose us to save him, and we are doing everything we can to honor that choice.
