A Call for Compassion, Faith, and Action

“Poco a poco se va lejos.”

“Whatever the mind can conceive and believe, it can achieve.”

These words echoed through the halls of our classrooms at Colegio de las Hijas de Jesús, spoken by a teacher who inspired not just with grammar and literature—but with life. Sir Boy is not only an incredible English teacher—he is a mentor, a friend, a fighter, and a man of deep faith. For the past eight years, he has quietly and courageously battled cancer with unwavering strength and humor, never letting his illness define him or take away the light he brought into every class.

True to the teachings of Mother Candida, he has always chosen goodness, service, and love—placing others before himself, even while fighting his own battles. He taught us to work hard, to trust in God, and to keep going even when things seemed impossible. Now, it’s our turn to live those values by standing with him in this most difficult moment.

On June 21, Sir was rushed to Mission Hospital in Iloilo due to chest pain, severe chills, and difficulty breathing. He suffered a heart attack and was diagnosed with pneumonia. Further scans revealed the heartbreaking truth: his cancer had advanced had metastasized to his lungs.

He underwent thoracentesis to remove fluid from his lungs and improve his breathing. He is now on NGT feeding, oxygen support, and is in a very fragile condition. Just recently, he had another episode of dangerously low oxygen and required an emergency suction procedure to clear fluid from his chest.

Despite his strength and will to fight, the mounting hospital bills are overwhelming—and with no insurance, his family is carrying this burden alone.

We are humbly asking for your help. All funds will go directly to his life-saving care, medications, and hospital expenses. Your generosity can give him the chance to keep fighting and breathing a little easier.
