Support Single Mother’s Fight Against Metastatic Cancer

Hello,

My name is Rebecca Ottusch. I am a 35-year-old single mother of my beautiful blessing of a son, who is currently 4 years old.

I was diagnosed with breast cancer the first time in 2018 and again, in June 2024 with metastatic breast cancer stage IV bone metastasis — meaning breast cancer returned this time in my bones and other places like lymph nodes, etc. Doctors found tumors in my spine, hip, skull, and we can assume all bones, but those were the main ones imaged. I went through radiation to my hip and skull as well as a year of treatment. It is very difficult and intense and this time extremely painful. Once it is considered metastatic the doctors tell me it is something that never goes away yet is about managing my quality of life while I am still here. Statistically I am supposed to be dead at least a couple years ago, right now or within the next 1-2 years. I have far loftier dreams and goals to survive much longer!

I have been in and out of the hospital consistently since June 2024.

I also have been exposed to toxic mold in my living situations, which I am recovering from as well.

As I write this note, I have been admitted to the local hospital here and am receiving care.

I need help with my finances since having this diagnosis makes it very difficult to work constantly or in general. Even so, I am doing consulting at times when I am able.

I also receive a small amount from Social Security Supplemental Income because I am medically disabled.

My medical expenses and other financial responsibilities exceed my income, especially also in regards to being a parent.

The money raised will go toward paying for my healthcare insurance, medical treatments, checks, scans, procedures, medicines, etc., as well as daily living expenses such as food, clothing, and shelter for both myself and my son.

I also will be using it to receive treatments such as infrared light, lymphedema massage, medicinal supplements, Accupunture, pain management supplements, and healing treatments.

I have two service dogs yet am looking into foster care for them currently.

I am seeking to survive despite the statistics and also my doctors telling me all the time that “I should be dying” and that “I am dying” and telling me to seek palliative care (pain management care).

My son tells me he needs me and I want to be there for a long time for him, as well as I have dreams of continuing to teach yoga and meditation, model, and practice professional real estate.

I also have a goal and dream of becoming an attorney and doing conflict resolution.

Thank you,

Rebecca Ottusch
