Support Single Mom's Burn Recovery

Hi Eveyone,

My name is Lisa Bonnes. I am a single mother to a 17 year old and a 2year old who is currently recovering from third degree burns to my face, chest, arms and torso

On 8/26/2024, I was in the midst of boiling water to mop the floor, and as I prepared to transfer it to the bucket, a chaotic series of events occurred. Startled by my dog's bark, I lost hold of the pot due to a weak left arm from a previous fracture. The scalding water splashed onto my arms, face, and chest. Although I sought treatment at Jacobi, they only applied ointment and sent me home. It was only after a colleague, who is a doctor, urged me to seek further evaluation at the Weill Cornell burn center that I received appropriate care. As a single mother with no remaining sick time or FMLA coverage, and with two children to care for, the possibility of being out of work for an extended period is daunting.

I am requesting funds for my rent, to cover cost of food and daily expenses for my children for the next 3 months while I am out of a job. I will use the rest over funds for my medical treatment and my bun care rehabilitation.
