Help a Trans Femme Afford Johns Hopkins

Donation protected
Sinead is a trans femme with a background in medical illustration, patient advocacy, and health policy. raising funds so that she can afford to return to school to study Bioethics at Johns Hopkins University.

Sinead was accepted to Hopkins' Bioethics Program, but was forced to defer my enrollment to Fall 2026 due to my inability to cover tuition. As her household's breadwinner and with years of accumulated student and medical debt, Sinead is going to try to get her Master's in Bioethics at her dream school, Johns Hopkins. First, Sinead plans to receive a certificate from Hopkins in Bioethics, to keep her courses manageable while she works full-time in health policy & trans advocacy. This certificate will carry over into the Master's program once Sinead has the necessary time.

It is Sinead goal to enter the field of clinical bioethics someday, specializing in pediatric neuroethics. Big or small, your donation will help me not just achieve this goal, but it will help me serve the health interests of marginalized communities, who are often underserved by U.S. health systems. Despite the number of editorial think pieces in bioethics journals about the diversity issues in this field, most institutions offer little-to-no financial support for part time students, and yet do not provide enough financial support to enable students to be without fulltime employment. And so, the field is prohibitively difficult for many folks from medically and economically underserved communities to enter the field, despite these being the voices needed most in the profession at this time.

In order to make this happen, Sinead needs to raise enough money to cover tuition, books, and travel. She's calculated that this would require approximately $30k, but she's decided to ask for $17,000 and see if she can make up the difference by selling artwork, selling her plasma, and finding freelance gigs.

Sinead is a deeply passionate, motivated, and hard-working person who sees this not just as a new degree or career path, but as a way to serve the health needs of marginalized and medically underserved community. Your donation is therefore, not merely a donation towards her tuition, but an investment in building more ethical and inclusive health systems and policies.
