Since he first picked up a basketball as a kindergartner, Simeon Hawkins has been relentless in his pursuit of excellence. Now, as he prepares to enter his junior year, his hard work and dedication have earned him a spot on D1 New Mexico, the premiere AAU basketball program in the state and one of the top in the Midwest. D1 New Mexico has helped over 120 student-athletes from New Mexico, Arizona, Colorado, and Texas obtain college scholarships since 2010. As a quick and shifty point guard, he’s known for his ability to shoot with precision, pass with ease, and lock down opponents on defense as if every play is the game-winner. His heart is as big as his smile, and his intensity on the court is matched only by his commitment to his teammates. Simeon isn’t just playing for himself—he’s always there to lift others up, pushing his team to be the best they can be. Off the court, Simeon’s work ethic is equally impressive.
Over the past two years, Simeon has been working closely with the coaches of NM Fearnot, including Coach Phil, who have been instrumental in building his confidence and refining his skills. Their guidance, along with Simeon’s unyielding determination, has taken his game to new heights.
Twice a week, he wakes up before dawn for one-on-one sessions with a shooting coach at WNMU, constantly refining his game. After school and on weekends, he’s in the gym or on the court, putting in the time and effort to ensure he reaches his full potential. His dream is to take his basketball skills to the college level, and with your help, he’s one step closer.
