Hello all, we are setting up this GoFundMe for my friend Silvia, who recently received the devastating diagnosis of breast cancer. Despite the overwhelming challenges she faces, Silvia has shown incredible strength and resilience already!
She has undergone a bilateral mastectomy and will have reconstruction once chemo and radiation are finished.
As she undergoes intensive chemotherapy and radiation treatments for the next few months, the financial burden of medical expenses and care will begin to mount. Additionally, as Silvia goes through all of this, she has to care for her 2 young kids, Matteo and Emilia.
We are reaching out to our community to support Silvia during this difficult time, helping to alleviate the financial strain so she can focus on her health and her young kids. Your generous contributions, prayers, and support will make a significant difference in her fight against cancer. No donation is too small!
Silvia's story
On February 1st, the first week at my new job as an ultrasound technologist, I felt a lump in my right breast. Having studied breast anatomy and cancer in ultrasound school I knew this didn't feel right . The next day my coworker scanned me and they agreed that it looked suspicious. Diagnostic mammogram and ultrasound followed along with ultrasound guided biopsy and stereotactic biopsy.
On Feb 16, 2024 I was diagnosed with Invasive Ductal Carcinoma with Ductal Carcinoma In-Situ (DCIS). Double mastectomy surgery with removal of 3 sentinel lymph nodes was April 23rd. The pathology report revealed that one of the lymph nodes was also positive for cancer cells and the DCIS was extensive. On May 23rd, oncologist explained that because of my young age, positive lymph node, and size of the lump, I need chemotherapy for 3 months, followed by radiation for 6 weeks, and then endocrine therapy to maintain a good prognosis. Once chemotherapy and radiation is complete I will undergo reconstructive surgery.
As I navigate the news of this grueling treatment, the support from my friends and family has been uplifting. Your generosity will help cover the mounting expenses while I am unable to work and allow me to focus on my treatment, recovery, future surgeries, and my babies.
Thank you for standing with me in this fight. Whether it’s a donation, prayer, or positive thoughts, I truly appreciate your support!
PS. Cancer picked the wrong girl to mess with!
With Love,
Silvia
