I’m raising funds for a very important person in my life. His name is Silas Compton. He was in the Fordyce Mass Shooting Friday at 11:30 am.
His story starts as this:
It all started when he was in the pharmacy. He saw the shooter walk across the Mad Butcher parking lot with a bullet carrier band (I don’t know the word). There was shotgun bullets in it so he ran across the parking lot into the Mad Butcher because the shooter started shooting out the windows and walked in. Si then yelled at Travis (the shooter) from way down the aisle. Travis shot at Si but luckily Si ducked and was hit with a few pellets or shrapnel. Si walked out of the store and seen an older lady putting up her groceries into her car. He told her to get away, that a man was shooting the store up. Next thing Si knew, he woke up shirtless on the ground like some of you have seen in videos especially from Ms. Crystal Williams. Si was rushed to JRMC where I meet up with him in the E.R. I followed him in the ambulance to Baptist. I was able to be with him at 4 o’clock and stayed with him well until 9 o’clock while he was an absolute agony. I’ve never felt so much heartbreak before. When a family member broke me out at 9 o’clock she was able to stay with Si and get a surgical room. I came in to visit at 10:30 that night to say Goodnight. Si was finally at peace for a minute and slept throughout the night a couple times. I showed back up at 8 a.m. Si was talking and eating breakfast. He had loads of company today including his Dad and brother. He has little function on fine motor skills in his right arm and leg. The neurosurgeon won’t operate or consider anything until the swelling goes down. Lots of pain, but physical therapy is starting soon and he’s on plenty of meds from his awesome nurses!
He needs plenty of medicine throughout the day and he takes care of his cancer stricken wife. He works driving dump trucks for ArDOT. I’ve worked with him for a year before transferring to a different county. He barely makes enough to survive from past finances. His medical bill will be outrageous due to low insurance and he can’t work for a while.
He’s a hero in many eyes especially mine! He deserves so much better. Anything can help him. His family lives far up north. I want to gather together and create a better future for Si! I love him with all my heart.
