It’s been an excruciating last 2+ years for my niece, Sierra and the road has finally lead to brain surgery, scheduled Sept 9th. While symptoms started around Feb 2022, things took a serious turn with the sudden onset of Bell's Palsy during her third trimester of pregnancy with her second little darling, Crew. Except the Bell's Palsy never went away and her other symptoms grew into debilitating pain.
Relentless to gain control of her life back, she tried it all, from acupuncture to facial surgery. Countless medications and procedures would have left anyone discouraged. But Sierra persisted. She has seen several specialists and had numerous MRIs. This is where she started putting the puzzle pieces together herself and started researching this seemingly harmless cyst on her pineal gland. Neurologists said not to worry about it but with every MRI, it was growing.
Fast forward to 2024 and Sierra found the leading researcher on the pineal gland and scored herself an appointment. After thoroughly reviewing her history, he recommends brain surgery. And because Sierra is exhausted from missing out on life, often in bed for days on end from the symptoms, she is scheduled for a craniotomy on Sept 9th in Charleston, SC.
The surgery is intense and the recovery is unpredictable. We know she’ll be in the hospital for a minimum of 5 days and be in Charleston for a minimum of 2 weeks. She’s currently out of work, her short term disability benefits have been exhausted and we are unsure of when/if she will be able to return.
Every cent donated to this GoFundMe will go towards copays, travel expenses, and medical needs related to this surgery. Your support is so appreciated and necessary and your well wishes and prayers are always welcome.
Thank you for caring for this rockstar with me. She has a whole life left to live and this surgery is a huge leap towards getting her back on her feet.
