Support Sierra's Journey to Recovery and Hope
Donation protected
Sierra Colum, a San Diego native (17), was at cheer practice on Tuesday last week and unfortunately took an elbow to the head, which has resulted in a severe brain injury. She has lost all muscle memory. So far, the doctors believe she will make a full recovery, but it will take MONTHS of therapy. Both of her parents have had to take leave from work to manage this, and they also have another younger child to care for (plus the same week their oldest son graduated from Great Lakes boot camp!), so the stress they are under is great at the moment. Sierra is a 4.0 senior at San Diego High and was in the process of applying for UC Davis, Cal Poly-SLO, and SDSU for next fall with plans to study to become a veterinarian.
As you can imagine, this will be difficult, but she is determined to keep her path. Not surprising to those who know Sierra, she has had this work ethic with everything she has done her entire life! If you are able to contribute anything (even just a few dollars makes a difference), please do. This family has a LONG road of recovery ahead, and they need our support. Insurance MAY cover many of the bills, but there are so many unknowns at this time. Any funds left over from her care will help support her college future.
