For more than two months, a scared dog known as "Shy Guy" roamed the streets of Lynchburg.
Countless people saw him. Many wanted to help him. But Shy Guy was experiencing lost dog syndrome. He was terrified, constantly on the move, and too fearful to be safely approached using traditional methods.
His rescue required a specialized piece of equipment called a Missy Trap:
Thanks to the generosity of Real Deal Trapping and Trap 'Em RVA, we were able to borrow a Missy Trap and, after weeks of sightings, feeding stations, cameras, sleepless nights, and an incredible community effort, Shy Guy was finally brought to safety.
The two traps we used were borrowed, and there is currently no Missy Trap readily available to help recover lost and stray dogs in the Lynchburg area.
We want to change that.
Someone has generously offered to build a Missy Trap for our community at a cost of $700. We are raising the funds needed to make that happen.
A Missy Trap is a large, humane enclosure designed to safely capture fearful dogs who will not approach people or enter traditional box traps. For dogs like Shy Guy, access to this equipment can mean the difference between continuing to survive on the streets and finally making it to safety.
Shy Guy's story had a happy ending. We want his rescue to help create happy endings for the dogs who come after him.
Our goal is to raise $700 to fund the construction of a Missy Trap that can be used to help recover lost and stray dogs in Lynchburg and the surrounding area.
Every donation will bring us closer to providing our community with a resource it desperately needs.
If you're unable to donate, please consider sharing this fundraiser.
Together, we brought Shy Guy to safety.
Now, let's make sure the next scared dog has a chance, too.
