Support Shuwn Mcdearmon's Family and Legacy

Dear Family, Friends, and Community,

It is with heavy hearts that we share the tragic news of the passing of our beloved Shuwn Mcdearmon, who lost his life due to a battle with cancer. Our community, family, and Shuwn’s loved ones are devastated by this loss, and we are rallying together to support his grieving family during this unimaginable time.

Shuwn was a kind and compassionate soul, known for his warm, welcoming, and generous heart. He had a deep love for music and always had a song. He was not only a gifted singer/musician but also a dedicated partner, father, friend, and coworker, always encouraging and uplifting those around him.

The tragic loss of Shuwn has left his family and friends heartbroken. As they navigate this incredibly difficult period, we want to alleviate some of the financial burdens they are facing these next 60-90 days, including expenses for 2 funerals, travel, and memorial services in Minnesota and Ohio, medical bills, lost wages, and other unforeseen costs. The money would be used to help recover the cost of medical premiums, lost wages (lack of PTO to attend medical appointments, and shortage that short-term disability did not cover.)

Your donations will also help support Shuwn’s legacy including:

-Start up of an annual legacy in his name with the hope of raising 25K for Youth Performance Company (YPC) to give scholarships to kids. The creation of small scholarships for kids that cannot afford to attend the Youth Performance Company will be in honor of him as he was a lover and former Thespian of YPC and a supporter of the next foundation of artists, especially his favorite up and coming superstar daughter, Lola (Ljb)! Your donations will be helping children just like Lola in her ongoing theater, dance, and singing endeavors.

-Helping Ljb to continue pursuing her dance, piano, and singing goals/classes.   

-Jen learned that Shuwn did have a policy through work so that will help to pay for the basement repairs! 

- The policy designed to cover the cost of Shuwn’s funeral in Ohio fell through, and did not come to fruition. This unexpectedly was not available. The expenses for the Ohio funeral were $7400.  

We are asking for your support in raising funds to help Shuwn’s family during this challenging time. Any contribution, no matter how small, will make a significant difference and show the family that they are not alone in their grief.

In honor of Shuwn’s memory, let us come together as a community to support his family and celebrate the beautiful life he lived. Thank you for your kindness, generosity, and compassion.

“There is no value that can be placed on how Marlin Gary Funeral Homes beautifully prepared Shuwn for his home coming and Bishop Hairston (sp) for the service he gave, Shuwn would have been so happy and proud. I'd also like to thank Sherika Chandler, Shuwn sister, without her the service would have not have happened, I am forever grateful.”
