Support Shonté Thomas in Overcoming Hardship
Donation protected
My name is Shonté Thomas, and if there’s one thing to know about me, it’s that I take pride in who I am. While I have no hesitation in seeking professional help when needed, asking for support on a personal level is much harder for me. However, I’ve been reminded of the strength of my community and the ways they have shown up for me in the past.
For some context, I have been unemployed for eight months ago. Since then, I’ve applied to over 130 jobs (from Higher Ed to tech, to Safeway, Chipotle, and out of state), secured seven interviews, but have yet to receive an offer. The job market is tough, bias is real, and my unemployment benefits have ended—so here I am, leaning on my community for support.
While I’ve lined up a few temporary gigs for April, I still need help covering my bills. Additionally, after a recent visit to my doctor, I now have several out-of-pocket medical expenses to cover. If you’re able, I would deeply appreciate any support—whether through donations or simply sharing this with your networks.
I’m also accepting all the good energy and prayers you can send my way. Thank you!
