Shonnie’s Support Network Fund
Donation protected
For many years my sister Shonnie has been a missionary in a remote jungle village in Liberia, Africa, without electricity or running water, working to teach farming, build schools and promote their most basic health and welfare. On October 6, Shonnie and 3 others were struck and run over by a speeding heavy construction vehicle. With no Emergency Services or medical facilities nearby, Shonnie endured 72 long hours of waiting, primitive transport, extremely limited medical care or basic hygiene, she finally made it thousands of miles from Liberia to Johannesburg where she is now receiving specialized care. In addition to broken bones and severe crush wounds, she contracted a very serious infection, a flesh eating bacteria. After numerous surgeries, pain and fear, we believe she is now on the path to recovery, but this is going to take countless reconstructive surgeries and long months of intensive therapy. During all of this, Shonnie has been far from home and separated by thousands of miles from family.
Shonnie is facing a challenging recovery journey and needs the support of her loved ones. To ensure family and friends can visit her without financial burden, we are requesting donations to cover their travel expenses. This initiative aims to keep Shonnie surrounded by her support network, as recovering alone can be incredibly difficult. Her regular supporters will continue to manage her usual expenses, while these additional funds will help maintain the presence of her loved ones during this critical time.
