On February 7, my 33-year-old sister, Shonia, suffered a sudden cardiac arrest. She is still in the ICU and also has a brain injury. The doctors have said this will be a long recovery process for her, and our family is doing everything we can to support her during this incredibly difficult time.

My mom has been by Shonia’s bedside ever since we got the call at 5 AM, and we are raising funds to help cover living expenses so she can stay in Philadelphia close to Shonia at all times during her recovery. Also for Shonia’s medical bills, long-term care, any future procedures, and supporting her son  TJ. This is important because most job’s insurance typically only covers for a year.We need to make sure she has the best care and coverage even as we face unknown future expenses.All the proceeds will go directly towards Shonia’s needs as well as transportation costs for getting to and from the hospital and rehab centers. These expenses are adding up quickly, and any help would mean the world to us.

We ask that you all continue to pray for Shonia’s recovery. This was a tragic event that happened suddenly without warning. Shonia is a high school teacher, full of life, down to earth, and very funny. She loves to have fun, connect with friends, and was always ready for a good time. This event has been devastating for all of us. We are so grateful for any support, no matter how big or small, and thank you from the bottom of our hearts for helping our family during this time.
