Support Shonda Lucas Through Recovery

Hello,

My name is Shonda Lucas, a long-time resident of Liberty County. I dedicated 25 years to driving for the Liberty County school bus system before retiring in 2022. Unfortunately, I discovered that I won't be eligible to collect my retirement benefits for another 15 years. After retiring, I began working for Hinesville Transit, but after a year, I was let go due to taking too many days off to care for my elderly mother and sister during their medical appointments.

Since then, I've been trying to make ends meet by doing DoorDash, Lyft, and providing ride services. However, I suffer from severe osteoarthritis, and the pain has become unbearable. My doctor has strongly recommended surgery to alleviate this debilitating condition. Today, June 6, I had the surgery and I will be unable to work for the next 3 to 4 months as I recover.

I’ve already filed for disability, but due to COVID-19, the processing is significantly delayed, and I won't receive any support for at least a year. My unemployment benefits have also run out, leaving me with no income during my recovery period.

I am requesting your help to cover my living expenses for the next few months. I need $10,000 to ensure I can pay for essentials like mortgage, utilities, and groceries while I recover from surgery and am unable to work. Any contribution you can make would be greatly appreciated.
