On Friday, October 4th, our dear friend Shivam was tragically taken from us in a devastating car accident in Pflugerville, part of the greater Austin area. The crash was so severe that authorities had to rely on DNA testing to confirm his identity.

A Life of Promise

Shivam was pursuing the American dream with unwavering determination. After earning a bachelor’s degree in engineering from the University of Mumbai, he went on to complete a master’s degree at San Jose State University. His career flourished as he progressed through various tech firms in California and Austin, eventually rising to the role of Director. Shivam was on the brink of realizing his dream life with his wife, Saloni, and their three-year-old twin boys, Rihaan and Rishaan. The family also adored their German Shepherd, Romeo.

Recent Struggles

Earlier this year, fate took a cruel turn when Shivam, at just 39 years old, lost his job. Along with employment, he lost the health and life insurance benefits his family depended on. As Shivam searched for new opportunities under COBRA insurance, Saloni and the boys returned to India to manage healthcare costs.

Family in Grief

Shivam’s family is now grappling with an unimaginable tragedy. His heartbroken parents, devastated wife Saloni, and their young sons have just returned from India, overwhelmed with grief. Saloni is doing her best to remain strong for her children, but the challenges are immense. She must now handle funeral arrangements, navigate health insurance issues, manage immigration concerns, and keep up with the car and home mortgages. In addition, she faces the long-term burden of raising her children alone and finding work in her healthcare profession, all while mourning the loss of her beloved husband.
