Support Shiva Through Her Tough Days

Hello friends! All of you that know me also know my best friend, Shiva. A four-legged companion that has been such a special part of my life now for over 13 years. Shiva is a Husky, Great Pyrenees mix who I came across one day at the shelter in Fort Myers when I had just started college. I was not necessarily looking to adopt a puppy, but once we met I knew there was a bond. She was at the front right when you walked in, the last one of a litter that had been brought in that week. I walked around the shelter and played with a 3 year old husky, but there wasn’t the connection I was hoping for and had the white blue eyed fur ball on my mind. I left the shelter that day and attended my classes. The next day I went back, she was still fenced up right in the front and I asked if anyone had been interested in her. She told me if no one adopted by the end of the week the manger of the shelter loved her so much she was going to take her home. I asked to play in the room with her and instantly knew this was my girl. That day I brought home a two month old bundle of joy, something more special than I would ever of known.

Shiva has been through every stage of life with me. From long tough college days and nights, hundreds of amazing beach days, the best hikes, countless odd adventures, the best of days, the worst of days, my best friend. There no matter what. Everyone who knows her loves her instantly. I couldn’t ask for a better dog, sweeter girl, so much personality and adventure. And of course she is absolutely gorgeous.

After a recent ER visit we have concluded Shiva’s age and arthritis have become a factor in her every day life now. We are working on figuring out the best treatments and options to keep her mobile and healthy as best we can. This week we are starting weekly rehab therapy which will involve laser therapy and underwater treadmill exercise to help aid in muscle gain, overall strength, and comfort.

Having to take time off work to be with her has put a strain on finances. If anyone has the ability and wants to help me with this process of giving Shiva comfort I am making this available. All proceeds will go directly to bills that care for Shiva. I am so appreciative to all of you who have already reached out asking to help me with anything in this time.
