Help Shishir Dhakal Fight Wilson Disease

Hello, my name is Shishir Dhakal, I was born on September 19, 1996, in Siranchok-7, Tallo Gohore, Gorkha District, Nepal. I am battling Wilson's Disease, a rare and fetal disease caused by excessive copper accumulation in the liver and/or in the brain. My illness started when I was 9 years old in 2005. Wilson's Disease was extremely rare in Nepal at that time and it took almost one year to diagnose the problem. Somehow the problem was managed through consumption of selective food items (low copper containing food items), Zinc and other supplements to neutralize the copper accumulation in the body and other possible herbal medicines available in the country. Despite all these, my condition worsened, leading to severe internal bleeding due to liver damage and total indigestion for the last seven months. My health has deteriorated extremely, and I have become bedridden, unable to use the toilet and taking showers without other's support. Now, it has been far away to pursue my dream of becoming an engineer.

This disease has severely damaged my liver, and I urgently need a liver transplant to survive. I was admitted to Bir Hospital Kathmandu last week and transferred to KIST Hospital (KIST Medical College and Teaching Hospital), Imadol Lalitpur on May 6, 2025 to prepare myself for liver transplant. It would take another one to two weeks for my fitness for the surgery. My family and I have been struggling with this illness for years, and we have exhausted all our resources in my treatment.

We need your help to raise US $40,000 for my liver transplant and ongoing treatment. My mom Parbati Neupane Dhakal or father Mukti Dhakal will be donating a portion of the liver. That means there will be two major costly surgeries in my family and it is not possible without your support. I am in a condition of life and death so I am sincerely requesting for your support as much as possible. Your donations will cover surgery, post-operative care, and ongoing treatments for two persons. Your support will not only help me personally but also establish the Wilson's Disease Foundation Nepal to raise awareness and support patients like me.
