We are Shishir's coworkers, aiming to raise money to support Shishir after a devastating lay-off that came just days after he bought a house.

Shishir is one of the kindest, smartest, and funniest people you will ever meet. He has been at our organization for 6+ years, and he brings so much to the department and the organization as a whole. Yesterday, the organization cut the department, laying off three amazing long-time employees and completely changing the jobs of two more. We are devastated by the loss of our friends and colleagues. Of those laid off, Shishir was hit the hardest. He has a beautiful family to support. He is a father of two sweet boys and recently purchased a house for his family. Now he has no job and a new mortgage to pay on top of moving costs, bills, and supporting his family. Despite his Ph.D., his years of experience, and the joy he brings to his coworkers, it will be very difficult for him to find another job because of the timing. The universities have all hired their positions for the year, meaning he would need to wait months before having a chance at being hired for an academic position. Research funding has been cut significantly on a federal level, and there are few environmental jobs for the same reason. He was put in a really horrible position.
