Help Support Shirley Dimmel's Fight Against Leukemia

My name is Kathleen Dimmel, and Shirley Dimmel is my mother-in-law. Shirley is one of the most charismatic, caring, loving, generous souls that I know walking this earth. Her family, friends, work family, and the residents she cares for are the most important people in her life, and she will do all in her power to help when any of them are struggling. PLUS, if you know Shirley, you know she is one tough lady. She is always on the go and the rest of us are just lucky to keep up!!

Recently, she has been struggling with illness and has suffered a setback of her own. Her usually great health has taken a turn, and after several days in the hospital, Shirley has been diagnosed with Leukemia.

Everyone knows the physical, emotional, mental, and financial toll cancer can take on a person. The bills do not stop just because someone is sick, and she is likely to incur some expenses related this diagnosis. On December 1st, we will take her to Temple, Texas, to settle in for a 5 week stay, while she undergoes treatment at Baylor, Scott & White Medical Center. We are not sure when she will be able to return work, as the treatments will most likely go on after the 5 week stay.

Shirley needs her people to huddle around her now; and show her how much she is valued and loved. It’s OUR TURN to help her. The last thing we want her to worry about is how to pay the bills while she is fighting this disease. Being able to focus on her health MUST be her #1 priority now.
