Support Shirlette Ferrari’s mission to print and distribute her engaging literacy book to students across Jamaica.
Hi! I’m Shirlette Ferrari, a dedicated educator and guidance counsellor with 34 years of ongoing service in Jamaica’s education system. As a former reading teacher at Bog Walk High School (now Enid Bennett High), I saw first-hand how poor literacy skills can limit a child’s future.
To help my students succeed, I created a literacy workbook tailored to struggling readers in Grades 4 to 9. The results were powerful—students improved, and their confidence soared. Other schools like Foga Road High and Garvey Maceo High also purchased copies and saw positive results.
Now, 12 years later, I’ve updated the book to make it more colorful, engaging, and aligned with today’s learners—but I need your help to make it widely available.
Why I’m Fundraising
Many families and schools still struggle to afford quality reading resources. I’m raising funds to print a new batch of books so they can be:
• Offered at discounted prices
• Donated to schools and students most in need
• Widely distributed across Jamaica
Your support will go toward:
• ✅ Printing 500+ full-color copies
• ✅ Donating books to under-resourced schools
• ✅ Substantial discounts for students in need
• ✅ Delivery and packaging
How You Can Help
1. Donate – Any amount brings us closer to putting books in children’s hands.
2. Share – Tell a friend, a teacher, or a past student.
Let’s Build a Generation of Readers
This project is more than a book—it’s a chance to empower young minds and give them the tools to succeed. Together, we can unlock the doors of literacy and give every child the chance to thrive.
With heartfelt thanks,
Shirlette Ferrari
