Support Shirat Teachers
Donation protected
Our Shirat teachers are our family. We consider these teachers our partners in the education of our children. This is not only learning their A, B, C’s but teaching them to embody the values that we all hold dear – kindness, family, learning, and fun. We trust them with our children, we invite them into our homes and they hold a special place in our hearts.
Now our beloved teachers need our help. As the landscape stands today, our teachers are not eligible for unemployment benefits due to their employment of a religiously affiliated nonprofit (which could potentially change once the CARES act funds are available). Shirat Hayam has established a fund for donations (https://shirathayam.org/donate/) click on the CSH Employee relief fund.
Our goal is to provide complementary support to assist in purchasing groceries and other general household purchases in the form of gift cards to stores local to the teacher’s home. We want to ensure financial relief is provided in the time frame between when they were laid off and when other funds would be made available to them.
Here’s how it will work:
100% of the donations will go towards purchasing gift cards delivered to the teachers. Adam Petrick is listed as the beneficiary of the fund as he and Andrea will be withdrawing the funds and distributing to the teachers. Adam and Andrea are fellow parents at Shirat. These can be used in any retailer that accepts visa and that is in close proximity to their homes. Each week on Friday morning we will withdraw all the funds from that week and purchase the gift cards on Friday afternoon. Then we will begin fundraising for the subsequent week and we will continue to do this until the teachers are back to what they do best – being our partners in our children’s education.
We love our teachers! Let’s come together as a community to help support them through this time of uncertainty!
