This GoFundMe was created in the spirit of reciprocity, gratitude, and love.

Over the past few years, I have had the honor of studying with many generous Shipibo curanderas and curanderos. It has been a profound joy to share their medicine, language, and traditions with communities in the United States in a respectful and meaningful way.

One of my greatest teachers, Maestra Mama Olinda, and her family have played a vital role in my personal healing and learning journey. Their deep care for their guests is unlike anything I have experienced elsewhere in the jungle. Last October, I brought a small group to their center in Pahoyan village to experience a traditional sama, or plant dieta, under their guidance. Their center is entirely run by their family and the broader Shipibo community.

This winter, devastating floods struck their village and home, as well as many communities along the Ucayali River outside Pucallpa. Their healing center suffered severe damage, and they will need to rebuild from the ground up. Since they rely entirely on hosting foreign guests for income, restoring their space is essential for their livelihood.

This GoFundMe was created to support their rebuilding efforts this spring.

Many people have received deep healing from the medicines stewarded by this community—whether through ceremonies with the Chirapa Rao altar in the U.S. or by dieting directly at their center.
