Support SHINE: Safe Spaces for Indianapolis Youth
Donation protected
I am a school social worker at a High School in Indianapolis. I am seeking sponsorships/donations for a community violence prevention initiative I have started at my school called the SHINE project (safety, health, inclusion, and nurturing environments at school). Our project hosts events 1-2 times per month during out of school time in order to give kids a safe place to be. Your donations will allow me to purchase food, games, and craft supplies for events. I would also like to provide a $50 gift card to staff who give up their Friday nights to supervise the events.
We all have an interest in keeping the kids in our community safe, and we would greatly appreciate any support you can provide!
Below I have shared some results from our feedback survey from students:
-83% of students said that attending the events made them feel proud to attend Shortridge.
-88% of students said that attending the events made them feel excited to come to school.
-94% of students said that it allowed them to meet and get to know other students they didn’t usually see.
-100% of students said they want to continue attending.
-“It's a good place to connect with other students and have a safe place to express yourself. It's really important in our community to have a place people can hangout.”
-“For students that don’t have the means (time, money, transportation, etc) to hangout with others outside of school this gives them the perfect time with great activities to do.”
-“This event showed how powerful creativity can be in uniting a community, and I left feeling more inspired than ever. I would love to see more opportunities like this in the future to keep fostering that sense of connection among us.”
-“I was really pleased with the amount of people that showed up. They brought out an extremely positive side to our school that is sometimes hard to notice.”
Violence has become all too common in Indianapolis and you can help us be a part of the solution!
