Shimeka was physically and sexually assaulted by her ex-boyfriend. He was a citizen and had her detained by ICE on the day of the final restraining order hearing. He strangled her to unconsciousness and raped her and is trying to get away with his disgusting actions. Now she is in another country because she chose voluntary departure and would appreciate donations to adjust to her brand new life. She would like to be able to drive and be mobile to school and work to keep on keeping on. She is a survivor and she would like to keep surviving. When she was in the US, she was a productive element in society, having her own place, car and working and paying taxes. Now she is adjusting to life in another country, and needs an initial push.
