Hello folks,
My name is Lane and I currently live in the Bay Area. My coworker Sheville’s family, the McIntoshs, who live near the coast in Westmoreland, Jamaica, was hit by Hurricane Melissa and life is in a state of chaos.
Sheville works as a faculty assistant at the daycare & preschool at Meaningful Beginnings in San Francisco. I work there myself alongside her as an infant teacher assistant. Sheville is a vital staff member who does an incredible job making sure all the kids get the nutritional meals and care they deserve. She makes our days as teachers and assistants less stressful and feel supported.
Together we are raising funds to get Sheville’s family the help they need to make repairs on their home and to help Sheville get back to see them, including her son. Her family includes 7 members - 4 adults and 3 children aged 3, 11, and 13 years old.
A portion of the money raised will go towards repairing the following damages:
The house: Half of the roof is gone, broken walls, broken windows, holes in the floor.
The yard: Removing uprooted trees and piles of trash from the property.
Another portion of the money raised will also go towards replacing the following items:
Food, clean drinking water, clothes, mattresses, bedding, pillows, shoes, and other essential household items.
A final portion of the money raised will go to purchasing a plane ticket and other travel expenses for Sheville to return to Jamaica to be with her family during this difficult time.
As of right now, the McIntosh family is not allowed to return to their home until there is running water or functioning electricity to begin making repairs. Currently, they are staying in another area of the island until they can return safely.
Please, anything you are able to give is greatly appreciated and will help the McIntosh family rebuild. Thank you.
Lane & Sheville
