My name is Buffy Golden and I am the sister in law of Sherry McCarthy. Sherry is 46 years old, a mother of three children and a school teacher at Cape Vincent Elementary.

Sherry after much testing and two major surgeries’ has been diagnosed with stage 4 colon cancer and in her lymph nodes. She has had her gall bladder, a big part of her colon and 14 lymph nodes removed. She will receive intensive chemotherapy in Syracuse over at least a 6 month period. She has a long road ahead of herself to fight this cancer.

Sherry has been a school teacher for only 2 years at Cape Vincent so unfortunately has not accumulated much sick time to use during this battle. Sherry will most likely not be teaching the remainder of the school year but is hoping to return in September.

I will be holding a benefit at O’Brien’s on December 15th, 2024 along with the help from Steve Hall. (Time will be determined at later date.) I will be holding a dinner, bake sale, silent and live auction during this time. If you are able to make a donation for our auctions or an item for the bake sale it would be much appreciated.
